Owen Bruening '20 Recruiting Profile

    Ever since fifth grade, soccer has become an enormous deal to me. I joined an intermediate through middle school soccer club named DUSC (Decorah United Soccer Club). Shortly after joining this club, I found friends that have stuck with me to this day. I've grown up along side these friends who have a true drive for improvement. We play whenever we can, wherever we can.

    With countless hours of practice, I had achieved one of my greatest goals. Making the varsity team my freshman year was more than I could've asked for. Shortly after the beginning of the season I had exceeded my own expectations and was given a position within the starting varsity squad until we switched our formation. Now I had upperclassmen to look up to that served as extraordinary role models both on and off the field. With the guidance, leadership, and positivity of these role models, I have become more and more determined to develop these aspects myself. As well as push myself every day to become a better player, person, and leader.
