Mason McKnight '26 Recruiting Profile

From an early age, soccer has been my passion! I began my journey as a forward, drawn to the thrill of scoring goals. However, my time at the SKC Academy marked a pivotal shift as I transitioned into a defensive role, primarily as an outside back. Over four years at the Academy and later with my ECNL clubs, I further evolved into a center back as well, honing my skills in the art of preventing goals.

While my focus has shifted to defense, I still enjoy contributing offensively when opportunities arise. One of my proudest moments was scoring a goal from beyond half after noticing the opposing goalkeeper coming to the top of his box when we possessed in our half, a testament of my field awareness and versatility. 

I have become a dependable anchor for my team, with my top strengths being:

1. Game intelligence and organization - I excel at reading the game and leading my team through effective communication.

2. Athleticism - My agility, precision passing and physical capabilities set me apart.

3. Leadership - My impact goes beyond defensive duties. Joining my ECNL club as a new player this year, I earned the trust of my teammates and was honored to be selected as one of three captains.

This combination of skill, athleticism, and leadership fuels my drive to contribute meaningfully on and off the field.
