From crying on the soccer field when I was three years old, to never failing to smile on the field at seventeen years of age, soccer has been a big part of my life since the first time I played. As I approach the end of my high school and club soccer years, I do not intend to stop playing. I plan on studying Business Administration, and I plan on using that degree to work in sports advertising after I finish my studies. My academic portfolio is something I am proud very proud of. I recognize that academics is always first, so I have been able to maintain a weighted 4.25 GPA and receive a 30 ACT score. My strong academic success has created a foundation for me to succeed in soccer.
Throughout my High School career, I have had much success. From being a freshman on varsity in my schools best ever season, to being named All-League in my sophomore year, to being captain, Attacking Player of the Year, top scorer and All-State during my junior year. Now, as my senior season approaches, I am captain once again.
In the last 11 months, I have spent 8 months on the sideline. My junior season ended five weeks early with a torn calf, and my following club season also ended early with a torn hamstring. My hamstring injury led to more problems in my hip, and it is something I am still dealing with. While it was incredibly difficult to sit out for all this time, I learned that recovery is an important aspect of an athlete that I had previously overlooked. My many years of year-round soccer, weightlifting, and distance running finally caught up to me in spectacular fashion: two major injuries. I learned that there was more to being an athlete than I had initially thought, and I grew up as an individual. I had never dealt with a major injury, so this was a period of personal growth. Now, I am more determined than ever to become the best athlete I can be, and I plan on succeeding wherever I play.
