My collegiate goals and aspirations include completing a bachelor’s degree in four years with a major in engineering, while also being a part of the college soccer team. I have always felt that balancing sports with school is a very important aspect of being the best that you can be in both areas.
Something that makes me a good candidate for your team is that I am a team player. I’ve played on sports teams my entire life, so I know how to communicate well with my teammates and coaches, which includes listening to any advice or constructive criticism from coaches or teammates while being able to give input and encouragement to others.
One element of my character that makes me different from other recruits is that I feel the need to push my teammates on the field or off the field when I know we are not meeting our potential. When we are losing a game that we shouldn’t be losing I will push the team, encouraging them to do better.
Another thing in athletics that makes me different is that I am a multisport athlete. The sports I have played include baseball, cross-country, varsity basketball, track, and soccer. Playing a variety of sports has helped me to gain multiple physical skills and to learn mental toughness.
What makes me different academically is that I put my studies first ahead of sports. As much as I would love to, I understand that I will not be able to play soccer for the rest of my life. So, I understand the importance of learning everything that I can in school to ensure that I will have a good job that I can excel in and enjoy for the rest of my life. I also feel the need to practice hard in sports, but I realize that school comes first.
