My name is Jorge Cantu, I'm 18 years old, born and raised in Mexico, lived in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, until I was about 9 years old, when we moved as family to Michigan for my dad's job and to reach bigger and higher dreams. I've been playing Soccer since I was 5, and I fell in love with the sport since the first time I touched a ball as a baby. In Mexico, I played for my school and also trained and played with C.F. Monterrey, youth development program, this is a professional club in the first division for the Mexican league. To me Soccer is not just a sport, to me Soccer is my passion, my life revolves around Soccer 24/7. I practice every day, I study the game by watching professional and college games. I try to attend college soccer games, as much as I can, like Notre Dame and Michigan. In academics, I work hard, I always try to do my best, if I fall, I get right back up and study my material. I'm just not an "A" student but I try my best at everything I do, personally, spiritually, academically and sports wise. I have faith in God and myself, and know I can reach my goals and dreams of being a college player and further, I'm a great recruit, you won't be disappointed if you give me a chance, I have an outstanding personality,my parents have brought me up to take advise and respect my elders, I believe I'm very coachable, listen, and follow directions, from my tutors and coaches.
In my High School career I have scored 50 goals and 20 assists for my team St. Joseph High School Men's Soccer. I like to pass the ball, and create a play rather than hold to it and lose the opportunity to score. At the beginning of the season my goal was to win the District/Sectional Tournament, as a team and as an individual, we achieved that goal, and it was the best day of my life. I was awarded with 1st Team All-Conference, and 1st Team All-District this season. I am a very creative player and I won't let you down.
I play year round no matter what, during winter, my dad helps me forming a team with the indoor league, I am also a Certified USSF Referee, I wanted to understand the game from the perspective of the referees, it has given me much more respect for the job they do during one of my matches. I try to officiate as much as my schedule allows me. My biggest dream is to play professional and I've always said that no one will stop me from reaching my goals not even myself. Thank you for your time.
