My name is Gavin Maas. I am in the class of 2025 at Mahtomedi High School in Minnesota. One of my goals for soccer is to be able to play at a highly competitive level through college while earning my degree in engineering with a minor in Spanish. I see myself as a kind, hardworking student athlete and a leader. As a leader I try to elevate and bring out the best in those around me. As a freshman I had the opportunity to play for the Varsity team during state am where in the 3rd place game I had the game winning assist. Based on that little time I played with the Varsity I was nominated captain by my teammates because they saw me as a leader. I have been blessed to travel the country for soccer with my club team making it to nationals, playing in Jefferson Cup and the Midwest region with my ECNL club team. I am primarily a centerback, but am versatile and quick and have been pulled to play as CDM and various positions as needed. I work hard and enjoy challenging myself and my teammates.
I also take school very seriously and I have taken accelerated, honors and AP math courses, Spanish CIS, AP courses such as History, English, psychology, and Calculus, and Honors coursework. I earned academic letter 3 years in a row as well as a 4 year soccer varsity letter. I am also an Eagle Scout. I think my soccer abilities, hard work ethic, and leadership ability will make me an asset on the right soccer team.
