My name is Samuel Clement. I’m a 17-year-old soccer player from Reno, Nevada, and my life has revolved around soccer ever since I can remember. I played recreational soccer until I was 9 years old, then I began competitive soccer. During those early years of competitive soccer, I played on teams two years older. That experience shaped my style of play and advanced my skills at a young age.
Currently, I attend Reno High School (RHS) and have been a starter for the varsity soccer team for the past two years. As a freshman, I played JV soccer at Lincoln High School (LHS)(Stockton, CA) where I was captain my freshman year. I received MVP awards for my 2017-2018 season at LHS and my 2019-2020 season at RHS. In the 2018-2019 season, I was named to the High Desert League All-Team. I have also won academically focused awards, including the Nevada All-State Academic Team award for both of my years at RHS and the Athletic Scholar Award while attending LHS.
For club soccer, I play for Nevada United with the Nevada United'03 Boys NPL team. We play in the NorCal NPL 1 league (highest NPL level)and are currently ranked #3 in the Nation in Gotsoccer. We have won 1st place for the past two seasons against some of the most competitive Northern California teams. This last year, I was 2nd for our team in both most goals scored and most assists. Because of the success of our club team, Reno 1868 FC (our local USL Professional team) has selected our team to represent them as the first ever Reno 1868 Academy Team. I am excited to see what this new opportunity will bring for me and my teammates.
Although I tried out and was selected for the Northern Nevada ODP team in my area, the 2003 team was cancelled due to not having enough players. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, the ODP subregional camp I planned to attend was not able to take place, limiting my ability to grow from the ODP experience.
Soccer and school have both been important elements of my life and shaped the person I am today. School has taught me to stay positive and motivated. I am a very serious student and have a clear goal of what I want to achieve academically. I love to learn, and I am very proud of my dedication in the classroom. I'm interested in humanity and technology. I plan to study physics and science and I want to major in engineering. I would like to attend a college with excellent faculty and academic programs because I value my education just as much as I value my sport. On the field, I plan to bring the same level of dedication and focus that I do to the classroom. I love to train my foot skills and touch whenever I can and I enjoy learning team tactics and set plays. Basically, I give all of my effort to what I do. And, I look forward to doing my best to be successful and giving back to my community.
I am excited for the future, and hope to reach my goal to play soccer at a strong academic institution. I have a passion for both soccer and education and will be taking serious steps towards achieving my highest level in both.
Thank you for taking the time to get to know about me.
