Personal Statement

While soccer is very important to me and I am interested in playing at the next level, my academic success is the most important. I am looking for a school that will challenge me academically and athletically. A strong academic program is going to drive my success in life.

I have a strong passion for playing soccer and learning as much as I can. I possess both the size and more importantly the speed to be a very effective defender at the next level.

I am a passionate player who enjoys playing a possession style of soccer. I am a hard worker who is eager to improve my skill set in order to be successful at the next level. I understand hard work in the classroom and on the field will bring me success.

I am looking forward to learning about the opportunities that may lie ahead for me.

Good footwork and positioning, and seems to enjoy the 1v1 battles. Headers - Aggressive and willing to challenge for balls in the air. Good presence on headers. Tactical Abilities - 92 / 100 Field Spacing - Highly active and involved in the attack. Gives good distance of support and passing angles for teammates. Reading The Game - Does well seeing the first level of pressure and making appropriate decision on the ball. Physical Abilities - 89 / 100 Endurance - Great work rate throughout camp. Showed endurance that helped effectiveness, especially late. Speed - Great speed overall, in particular when running into space. Will be an important asset going forward. Mental Abilities - 89 / 100 Leadership - Excellent job taking charge and leading the team. Great communicator and motivator. Team Player - Great team-first attitude. Was encouraging and supportive to teammates throughout camp. Coach's Comments This player is a very good defender. He covers space very well and is patient to delay attackers and allow his teammates to recover. This athlete has led by example on the pitch and influenced the game positively through his play. Make a decision and move the ball quick. Know where you’re going with the ball before receiving it. As a CB it’s also important to move the ball quickly to avoid pressure. You lead by example and you understand the game. Those around you can benefit from your information. You’re composed and calm on the field. At times a bit of “fire” is needed on the field, specially from a defender. Naturally, in the circumstances of the even this is not something that was needed, but it is an attribute to keep in mind.
