Conor Maenpaa '20 Recruiting Profile

My name is Conor Maenpaa and I am a 2020 graduate from Summit NJ. I am an Attacking Midfielder with the capability to play anywhere in midfield.

I am a domestic and international champion with seven years of club experience. Over those seven years, I played for STA Morris United for three years, TSF Academy for three years, and Arsenal Soccer Schools for one year. While playing on those teams I helped set up many goals with my passes. I was the captain of my junior varsity high school soccer team and I aspire to be the future captain of my varsity team.

My best domestic achievement was playing in the New Jersey State Cup Final against PDA. As a player moving forward I want to be the playmaker for a great school. I think I am the best candidate for colleges because I can play well on both offense and defense. My best attribute is my vision and ability to play tight passes in small spaces, while also having the ability to turn out of a tight situation and play a longer pass. I have the awareness and vision to know when to slow the game down or when to make it go faster. My future team and coaches can always depend on me to bring leadership qualities to a team, on the field and off the field.

I won an international tournament, called the Costa Blanca Cup, in Benidorm, Spain, where myself and 14 other new teammates went to Spain. We were the only American team in the tournament. Prior to that, I attended an international tour of England and Ireland where I played against Preston North End Academy (and won) and practiced with representatives of the Manchester City training staff. Also while on that trip, I played in several unorthodox positions for myself and it allowed me to strengthen my game in other areas.

My soccer career thus far has been full of experience; however, I want to take the next step by showing that I am capable of competing on a collegiate level.
