Christian Mazza '23 Recruiting Profile

Hello  and thank you for taking time to learn more about me.  Soccer has been an exciting and integral  part of my life since I was five. I found my niche and  began concentrating on goalkeeping when starting travel club soccer in Grade 3.  My fearlessness as a keeper  is often remarked upon  by coaches and parents.  My quick  save reactions and mental toughness also make me well-suited to the goalkeeper position. Other notable abilities include  my anticipatory skills and good reading of the game. I confidently  and vocally organize my defense during gameplay and communicate observations and strategies  to help us achieve success as a team. I achieve good extension on dives and am excellent at getting back up to make a save. I‘ve enjoyed the experience of mentoring players new to goalkeeping and was  recently  honored to have been told a younger player was inspired to try out for the position of goalkeeper due to watching me play.  Good sportsmanship and being a good role model are  important to me. I have a clean school and team disciplinary record and am well-liked by players and coaches. I have a good sense of humor and a  kind disposition. I am cooperative and receptive to feedback and possess a strong training work ethic.  I have  been dedicated to making training opportunities a priority so that I can continually improve my play to be the best possible  player and asset to my team. I was honored to be named by NJ.com as one of the top 50  seniors in boys soccer in New Jersey this  Fall, 2022. NJ.com also named me  goalkeeper of the week for the Olympic Conference in September, 2022. Seneca High School selected me a student-athlete of the month in October, 2022. I achieved honor roll status all 4 marking periods of my junior year and it’s my goal to continue to achieve this high standard during my senior year.
