Brett Matthews '12 Recruiting Profile

My name is Brett Matthews.I am 5'11' and weigh 144lbs.I have played soccer since I was five years old. I played in our towns summer and winter league. I started playing travel soccer when I was eight years old.I have played the position of goalkeeper for three years; before that I played midfield and defense. I was named captain of my travel team for three years, as well as, my JV Soccer team my sophmore year. Last year I was the starting goalkeeper of my Varisty team and was voted MVP by my teammates. I was also a 2nd team all-star for my conference.  This year I am the starting goalkeeper again and have been choosen as team captian. The past two winters I made the New York West ODP '94 Goalie group for the 2nd year and I play for the Southtowns Blackwatch Premier Soccer Club. I also participate in my school track team. I do this as my spring sport at school to keep up my enderance and speed. I earned my Varsity letter as a freshmen running on the Varsity relay team. This past season I did well in 400 hurdle and the 4x400 relay team, going to sectionals for both. I have enjoyed watching and playing sports all my life. I have choose to get into the field of Sports Medicine or Physical Therapy in college. I believe that I would enjoy this line of work and it would keep me close to sports. I know academics are a priority but I have always dreamed of playing soccer at the college level. I would like to attend college in the Eastern United States. My family could use some fiancial assistance in paying for my college education
