Daniel Santos Miranda '23 Recruiting Profile

Hi, My name is Daniel Santos, and I love soccer! I was born in Guatemala and have played soccer since I was very young. I came to the US in 2013 and didn’t speak any English at the time. I had to learn very quickly and spent several hours a day that 1st summer studying with programs such as Rosetta Stone. Due to the language barrier it was suggested that I repeat the 2nd grade. By 3rd grade I was fluent in English and making the Honor Roll. In 2015 I played Soccer for my 1st Club, Savannah United. During my 3 years with them I really began developing my skills and learning about the rules and fundamentals of the game. My family moved to Hickory, NC in 2016, and I began playing on my Middle school team in 2017. Here is where I had an awesome coach and mentor and my passion for the game really came into full force. Our team won division champs my 1st season with them and by my 8th grade year I was chosen as Team Captain! Because of the challenges I faced in my early school years I’ve worked hard to gain my required credits quickly and will graduate in 2023 as I should have. As for college I am really fascinated by all aspects of business, and am seeking a university  with both an excellent athletic/soccer program and a great business program. Architecture is another interest of mine and possible major. I consider myself energetic and hard working, and my social skills have helped me be a great team player and leader. My team won their conference championship this past season and I was honored to receive the player of the year award. My hope is to win the state championship this season as that would be an amazing way to wrap up my Senior year and finish my high school career! I’m excited for my future and look forward to pushing hard in school and on the field to achieve both my personal goals and to support my teammates as well.
