Soccer is a sport of passion, determination and strength. If you don’t have the will to push through, you won’t make it. You can’t be perfect, but you can learn from every mistake and be the best player you can be.
I’m Cooper Solomon from Gahanna, Ohio. I am currently a Junior enrolled at Gahanna Lincoln High School in the class of 2021. This year was my first year on Varsity, and as a Sophomore I was a captain on JV A. Since the start of high school, I have been in the soccer program, building relationships with the other players, coaches, and teams we play against. During the off season and Spring I train with my current club team, Blast FC. In the past I have also played for Club Ohio and Crew SC. I focus a lot of my time on extracurricular's like working with my youth group, helping at homeless shelters and also helping with any community events inside Gahanna and the school.
I am a very competitive person, coming from a father who played soccer in college. I was taught since I as little to play soccer, and to work from the first whistle to the last whistle, no matter the circumstances. I am also very team oriented. If we win, then we celebrate together, create rapport, and enjoy our time together while focusing on getting better as a team and individually at the same time. If we lose, then we lose together. There is no one person’s fault in the game of soccer because the game is a team sport, not individual. While JV A captain, I learned that being a leader on a team is very important and I learned many things that make me the player and teammate I am today.
I have set my priorities and my #1 priority is my academics. I believe that success in soccer and my future, all begins with my success and determination to learn and become successful in school and in life. I feel the teamwork and ways we learn and teach in class translate to the field, helping me communicate and engage with my teammates in a special way for each player. I’ve learned how to manage my time and keep my grades up during soccer seasons.
I have played centerback, and midfield for my high school team. On Varsity, I primarily play as a defensive midfielder. One of my strengths is my awareness on the field and being able to see plays developing and how I can move myself to get involved in that play. As a Junior on Varsity, I have looked up to the seniors in my position to learn more about the tactical positioning and sight of the field from their view, learning different ways other players see the field, and using it in my play and combining it all to become a better player.
I’d love to talk to you more about your program and what I could bring to your team! I’m confident in my work ethic, passion, and dedication to succeed in whatever I put my mind to, and I think I would be a positive addition to your team.
