My name is Ryan Schreck and I attend Fairmont High School in Kettering, OH. I play soccer for my high school and for my travel team, OGFC 04 Elite. I am one of the most outgoing, energetic, and friendly people you will meet. I love to get to know new people and make them feel welcome. Whether at school, home, or out with my friends, I am always looking to try or learn something new.
I am in the class of 2022 and I am mainly a center midfielder, center back, or left mid. On my travel team, I am currently the starting center back, but my coach moves me around to different positions depending on what our team needs. For example, this season I spent some time playing left back, center back, right wing, and striker. I am 6’1” and approximately 145 pounds, and my most recent mile time was 5:45.
I bring many different strengths to any team that I play on. I am a dynamic player with an extremely strong work ethic. I am always looking to better myself for the team and to make my teammates better, too. I am constantly out on the field working on my touch, finishing, and passing. On the field, I am a great communicator, and one of the hardest workers. In my position as center mid, I am constantly hustling to win balls. I am skilled with both feet and am a very accurate passer. I have also been an important contributor to set pieces for both my high school and club teams. I also have excellent vision and I can see the field very well, and I have a great understanding of the game. On the ball my footwork is quick, I know how to protect the ball and get out of tough situations. I also am the main distributor of the ball in the center of the field. I have an extremely competitive nature and will do whatever it takes to achieve a set goal.
I was JV team captain as a freshman, am a 3-year varsity letterman, and served as captain of the varsity team my senior year. I was also chosen to serve on my high school team’s Leadership Committee during the off-season. My greatest honor was being chosen as Brother of the Year by my varsity teammates for the 2021 season and also winning our team’s Ironman Award for most game minutes played.
I have played travel soccer for 10 years and I have been on the top team every year. I have experience playing in extremely competitive leagues, including Ohio South State League and Great Lakes Conference.
My dream is to be able to play college soccer and major in Physical Therapy. I am interested in a school my family can afford and where I will be given the opportunity to contribute to an exciting program.
Thank you for taking the time to read my personal statement.
