My name is Henrik Boekamp and I am attending Pennsbury High School in Fairless Hills, PA with a schedule of all honors and AP classes. I love sports and I’ve become more and more interested in business and economics and am considering making this my major to potentially pursue a career in sports management. I have dual citizenship (US and Germany) and studying or working abroad at some point in time in the future is a dream of mine.
My father is German and taught me soccer at a young age. At the U13 level I decided to move from field to goalkeeper full time and made the Eastern Pennsylvania ODP team for the first time. I enjoy playing goal because it requires decisiveness, communication, and anticipation. As the goalie, I have the game in front of me and can help my team on both sides of the ball. I would describe myself as a modern goalkeeper and some of my strong points are my distribution, communication, and shot stopping skills. My club team emphasizes a possession based style of play and I really enjoy turning into the 11th field player when we have the ball.
I play club at Princeton Soccer Association (PSA) Monmouth National 05. My club team competes in the USYS National League P.R.O. and the USYS National League Mid Atlantic Division. I also play in the EPSL for Kensington SC, where most of my teammates are 3 to 5 years older than me. I enjoy the challenge playing with and against older and more experienced players and it has allowed me to develop my game.
Soccer is one of my passions and I would like to continue my soccer career at the collegiate level. I follow the major European leagues and had the chance to watch a few games in Spain and Germany over the years. My personal highlight was watching Germany play Sweden at the 2018 World Cup in Sotchi, Russia.
