I aspire to play competitive soccer. I want to improve as a player, to learn more about the game, and to contribute, through being a leader, to the success of the team. I understand the game well, and by playing at the collegiate level I hope to further deepen my understanding and my abilities. I believe I can be an effective leader on the team, and this will help me to develop my leadership skills. Most importantly, I believe that by playing competitive soccer I will continue to improve as a person and become more helpful to my teammates both on and off the field.
In terms of athletics, I bring the following qualities to the team - a strong work ethic, versatility, and dedication. I am a very hard working player. I enjoy challenging myself and I always fully commit in both practice and in games. I am versatile because I am strong with both feet, and I can play both defensive and midfield positions. I take direction well from my coaches, and I am very loyal to my team and my teammates.
In academics, my unique background in education differentiates me from most other candidates. I have lots of experience with self-directed learning and self motivation in my studies. I am curious and like to ask questions and engage in a variety of topics and subjects, in addition to being able to follow through on assignments and instructions given by teachers. Having traveled to many different countries and regions, I appreciate a variety of cultures and backgrounds, which has opened my eyes to different ways of understanding the world. I bring all of this experience to my studies.
Regarding character, I respect others, communicate well, and respond well to helpful direction. Because I respect different beliefs and values, I tend to get along well with my teammates. I recognize the importance of clear communication with my teammates, so I am usually one of the most vocal players on the field. I appreciate and take to heart clear, honest coaching feedback and instruction: I am easy to coach because I take coaching direction seriously. These qualities allow me to improve individually as a player while contributing the most I can to the team.
