I grew up never having any real friends. I would always jump around from group to group looking for people to click with. It wasn't until I started to play soccer that these connections clicked. As I started to play more and become better, I would form deeper bonds with the people around me and so I believed that the better I became the better I would fit in and more people would accept me. So I worked for it. I put in time and effort to be the best that I could be for others and then, at a certain point, it wasn't for others anymore. It was for my love of the sport. I never wanted to be the worst person on the field, I wanted to be the best. As I grew in skill, the opponents around me grew and that made me work harder to take the steps needed to become the best again.
That same mentality to work harder than others transferred over to the classroom. I have always been relatively smart and not really having to study for test and things up until high school. But once there, I saw that one bad grade and my soccer brain kicked in and told me that I couldn't fall behind all the rest. That pushed me to take all honors and AP classes this year to see how far my brain could go. Luckily enough, it keeps growing and I keep getting grades to keep me in the A area.
Soccer has helped me through my whole life - with social life struggles, academics, and being a leader on and off the field. I don't want that to end at high school. I want to keep doing the thing I love in life that gives me the reason to go on each day. I want to keep growing and playing throughout college, and I hope I can play for your team. Thanks for hearing about my life and my love of soccer.
