When I usually tell people how long I've played soccer(4 years) they don't expect me to be at the level I am. What puts me at the level I am is that every game I look at what I did wrong, no matter the outcome, and try to make sure I improve from it. To be able to stay at the level I'm at, I have to work hard, focus and have the confidence to play. Every game I set a goal for myself to complete by the end of every game so I have the drive to win. Soccer is what makes me feel at ease and stress free. If I am not feeling right I just go and get a ball and start shooting, touching, or juggling to ease the stress. When I am frustrated about a relationship, anxious about something at school, or fighting with my sister, soccer makes things right for me.I used to play many sports; football, baseball, basketball and track, so my athletic abilities are excellent. I have enjoyed the other sports and have the athleticism do do well, but I don't love them like I love soccer. During my freshman year, I lettered for the varsity soccer team and won the Rookie of the Year award as well as the Offensive Player of the Year.
I have also been playing Select/Club soccer since the very beginning of my soccer career. I began playing indoor soccer with a friend then was recruited to play for the local select team. I knew I had a lot of ground to make up because all the other players had been playing for years, but I quickly became a started and have remained in that position since then. My select team has won or placed in many tournaments, but more importantly, we have learned strategies and fundamentals of the game.
Academically, I have done very well too. I currently have a GPA of 3.7, but my goal is to graduate with no less than a 3.8. Most recently I was nominated for membership into the National Honor Society and will soon find out if I have been accepted. This is something that I am very proud of. Many teachers have told me that I am very good at writing and I enjoy science as well. I am not involved in many of the choices that other people my age make for themselves. I don't like to go to parties where people are drinking, smoking, or doing drugs because I want to make sure I am living my life the right way. This has also helped me keep my grades where they need to be. In the past, I have been involved in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes Club, the Eco Club, and was on the varsity football team as the kicker as well as being a part of the starting 11 on the varsity soccer team and lettered as a freshman.
I would like to go to college and study materials engineering. I enjoy science and being able to combine things to create new materials. My focus is on creating more sturdy and light cleats for soccer primarily, but could expand to other athletic areas as well. I want to be a materials engineer for one reason, faster and lighter cleats. Once I really know how to do the stuff to be a materials engineer I will start in making the perfect cleats for soccer because there is always the struggle of either protective but heavy or thin and vulnerable. I want to combine these two aspects into one cleat so there is less foot injuries and more satisfaction with cleats.
