2015 Highlights Personal Statement
Hello all,
My name is Grant Pierce. I play the positions Striker and Attacking Midfielder. I will be graduating in the Spring of 2018.
As an athlete, I demand the best from myself at all times on the soccer field and encourage the same from my teammates. I have played soccer continuously since I was four years old. Since then, every single game has been important to me. When it comes to the field, I like to be unselfish on the ball and move it around when I have the chance. If it comes down to it, I am not afraid to challenge my opponents. I like to use my speed to get around defenders on a through ball against the back line defenders.
I was a starter on the Bayfield Varsity soccer team; In 2014, I received the Golden Boot Award. I lettered as a Freshmen on Varsity team. The team was comprised of Freshmen playing against Senior and Junior players. This did not phase me; I actually enjoy the competition of older players. I feel this increases my understanding of the game, and continually develops my soccer skills.
I have also made the New Mexico ODP State Pool two years in a row and my first year I made the New Mexico State team. In this tournament I was put in an unfamiliar (defender) position that I was not used to playing but I performed at a high level. Although I had no problem with playing as a defender, I enjoy playing anywhere on field as long I get to play. My favorite position is winger.
My club team is currently Sparta Premier MD 99' we our a newly formed team. We are still undefeated going against teams such as Peru. Our team has possession of two cups right now and we hope to win more soon, as well as win our Premier League 1.
As a student my interests include pursuing a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and potentially becoming a architecture major. I find my academics to be just as important as my sports. My goal in high school is to maintain a 3.5 GPA or better. I have been in advanced classes since 5th grade and plan to eventually enroll in AP classes as a Junior and Senior.
