Personal Statement

I grew up in a large family which taught me the importance of putting others first, the value of hard work, and what real loyalty is. I also figured out how and when to pick which battles, how to compete, and what true friendship really looks like. I started playing soccer when I was eight years old and instantly fell in love. I have had significant wins and incredible loses, but wouldn’t trade any of it for the world. Playing and competing has taught me that hard work isn’t always enough, you need to go the extra mile and give it all you have. It also taught me how to work under pressure and stay calm in intense situations. Soccer has made me value opportunities to challenge myself and revealed to me that I love to improve.

I have always loved to learn and think about things. I understand the merit of education and strive to better my erudition. One of the main ways that I accomplish this comes from computer programming. It provides problems for me to solve and it includes scientific and mathematical theories and principles. I enjoy researching all subjects, not just math and science, although they are my favorite. Programming also allows me to create things which is something I love to do. I’ve programmed multiple websites and games in different computer languages that I taught myself. I get to create sounds and visuals as well as physical things like robots and computers. My love for creation doesn’t stop there though, I love building all kinds of things; I had the good fortune of helping my brother-in-law build his blacksmith forge and I had a blast, it was a great experience.

I love to talk and spend time with people, but I’m also content with being by myself and exploring my many hobbies. I am friendly, honest, and straightforward.

  • 22 players were chosen by Ignacio Ruvalcaba to come to Fuerzas Basicas, part of Xoloitzcuintles de Caliente club Tijuana to play against their academy teams and to receive training. I was able to play against their U-17 team in the Xolos Stadium. It was an amazing experience. We met with, and were taught by, the professional team's nutritionist and their psychologist, and were given a tour of the entire stadium. We also got to socialize with a few of the professional players.

Training

  • Olympic Development Training
  • 2 years
  • I was selected for the Olympic Development Team for years 2012 & 2013, and traveled for games with them. I chose not to try out in 2014 onward as my coaches did not recommend it.
  • One on one coaching
  • 1 year
  • I have with Antonio Mendieta to improve my skills and discipline.
  • I trained with Celso Santos, from La Roca FC
  • 5 years
  • Celso Santos, who is a top trainer at La Roca FC, who just had his U18 team play against Honduras' National Team, was one of my first club soccer trainers. I played with teams that he trained during off-season from my regular club team, and he is the one who told me I needed to play on a Premier team, and suggested I try out for a premier team that had an opening for La Roca. I did, and played with that team for two years. After the first year, we lost several players due to moves etc ... so I needed to find another Premier team to play with. During that time, however, I also trained with Celso Santos to prepare for the International Futsal Tournament in Anaheim CA. Though Celso did not come as my coach, his coaching of our team was very valuable. I was able to attend the International Tournament 2 years in a row, and played with boys 1 & 2 years older than me. Celso's training has been key in my foundational skills. He was also one of the ODP coaches.
