Hello, my name is John Matlock. I am a starter for the MLS Next team, Alexandria Soccer. I am the youngest child in an active duty military family. I moved from South Korea to Arlington, Virginia, summer 2021 and have attended 9 schools.
I am left-foot dominant. I play Left Back + Center Mid for my MLS team. I play Left Wing on Varsity high school (6A).
I have been playing soccer since I was four years old. I started in Germany, on a German team, and joined my first American team when I was 8. I have continued to play on clubs in Texas, Virginia, Hawaii, and South Korea. I was selected for ODP in Texas, Virginia and New Mexico. Due to military moves, I have attended three high schools and played Varsity soccer each year. Most recently in South Korea where I was selected team Captain and voted MVP by my team members.
My GPA is 3.93. I am currently taking 4 AP classes for a total of 10 in my high school career. I have also taken 4 years of a language.
In addition to soccer I am an Eagle Scout, a member of National Honor Society, and I have been involved in various school clubs including Student Council and the Student Ambassador program.
