John Groves '22 Recruiting Profile

My name is JD Groves and I’m a senior at Alleghany High School.

I played soccer from the time I was old enough and stopped briefly when I started football in middle school. I was consistently asked to join the high school soccer team and finally committed my junior year. I was privileged enough to acquire the starting goalie position from a senior who had held it for years. I had a great season with frequent commendations, even from opposing teams. I come from a large supportive family and was honored to be an Air Force brat where I attended over 10 schools around the world and enjoyed the different styles of coaching and views. Being a lineman, kicker and punter for football really paid off as a goalie in soccer. I’ve always had a great brotherhood with my teammates and a good rapport with my coaches. I have a natural leadership where I’m supportive of my teammates, commend them, and encourage them on the field. I work hard and will work harder to be the very best I can. I would like to continue with the sports I love as I further my education and would appreciate any opportunity to play for your team.
