My name is Joey Brevard. I am a senior at Warwick High School (WHS). Once I graduate in June 2017, it is my goal to play soccer at the collegiate level. I am looking to represent an institution with a reputation for excellence in academics and athletics. I currently play soccer for both Warwick and the Virginia Legacy Soccer Club’s U18 Club Champions’ League (CCL) Team. My primary position is midfielder, but I can also play defender. To date, there has been no offensive player who has scored against me at the local, state, regional, or national level since I started playing defender in 2013.
At WHS, from an academic standpoint, I am in the International Baccalaureate Program and a member of the National Honor Society and the Future Business Leaders of America. I was also named Student of the Month at Warwick for April 2016 and I have been on the Honor Roll the last two marking periods.
Athletically, I am a three-year letterman at WHS and this year, not only was I appointed as a Captain, I was named to the All-Conference Team (second team) as a forward. Playing primarily defender, I helped Legacy's U16 CCL team attain 5th place in the Virginia State Cup and we were the IMG Boys Invitational Runner-Up for our age group in 2015. I was also named to the Olympic Development Pool for the state of Virginia.
I consider myself a versatile and fast player who is down-to-earth, dependable, and even keeled. Emotionally, I never get too high or low. I am a hard worker on the pitch and in the classroom and I love soccer. In closing, I wear #13 in memory of my late sister, Kayla Nicole Brevard. Not only was it her favorite number, but she passed away on April 13, 2016, of soft tissue sarcoma.
