Matthew Craighill '25 Recruiting Profile

My name is Matthew Craighill and I have completed my junior year attending Freedom High School in South Riding, Virginia and I will graduate in 2025. I currently have a 4.17 GPA and finished my 3rd season as the starting goalie for my High School team, was captain for my junior season and will continue as team captain for my senior year.  I am a three year starter for my high school varsity soccer team, and started all 18 games my sophomore and junior years. During the 2023/2024 club season, I was the starting goalie on a ECNL National team called Fairfax Brave 07B ECNL.  For the 2024/25 season, I will be the starting goalie for the merged Fairfax Virginia Union ECNL 06/07 team.

I've been playing soccer since I was 4 years old and first joined a club team at 9 years old. I pride myself in being a complete soccer player and have always played goalie and wingback up until last year, where I committed myself to being a full time goalkeeper.  My strengths as a goalkeeper are quick reactions, solid distribution and effective communication. I am athletic, which allows me to be quick off my line and neutralize any long balls coming into the box. 

I am looking for a highly competitive college team with high level academics that will help me prepare for life beyond soccer.
