My name is Adnaan (AKA Jordan) and I am an Operation Allies Refugee (OAR) from Kabul, Afghanistan. Due to the humanitarian crisis in my country in August 2021 I became a refugees in the U.S. with my older brother and Sister in Law. They live in Northern CA with their baby girl, but I ended up in Virginia on my own. I live with a family that took me in last October so I could complete high school. I have a 4.125 GPA from good grades in Afghanistan and in the U.S.
I was on the U17 Afghan Men's National Team through spring 2021 when I had to leave due to the U.S. military withdrawal and Taliban entering Kabul. In Virginia, I played pick up soccer games all last winter, ran to keep in shape, and got a A+ in my weightlifting class at school. I made the boys varsity soccer team long before tryouts when we were doing conditioning in the winter. I am now looking to join a club/travel team later this summer and going into Fall.
All I want to do is go to a college where I can continue my studies and play soccer. This gives me hope for the future and brings me some join when I am without my family. I hope you will consider me for your school.
