Sports have always been a place for me to enjoy playing hard and get great satisfaction. My aunt and uncle put me in sports at an early age and supported me all along. I played with YMCA teams, Chinqually teams, school sports and other recreational teams up to the present. Sports gives me an opportunity to play with other teammates/friends, learn from coaches and work hard to succeed. In preparation for college, my parents always enforced the importance of education- School first, sports second, and job third. Always keeping education in the forefront of my activities. Creating time and a positive learning environment. Having played sports all my life, I have lasting relationships with teammates and coaches. I’ve been able to enjoy great wins and devasting loses, but always remembering it is just a game. Sportsmanship is very important to me. I play hard and give it my all on the court, or field and treating everyone with respect. The commitment to show up at practice in the rain, cold earlier morning or blazing heat has taught me that you need to put in the time, to get the results you want. This applies to sports and education. During high school I played 3 sports each year while maintaining a 3.5 GPA or higher. I’ve received this award 4 times. I’m very proud of my sports success and my education success.
