The love for soccer has been there for me since age 10. I found my passion as a player and found myself thrown into the goalkeeper spot right away. My dream is to have a career that involves soccer; by playing at a competitive level for as long as I can, or by coaching kids to be the best they can be and bring out the potential in anyone who wants to put the effort into such an amazing sport. Picking up the position at age 10 was started with a random get together with my best friend, his brother, and father. Ever since that get together, I fell in love with the position and made the decision to commit and learn everything I can about the sport and position. This has all helped me become an additional coach on and off the field for the team.
I started playing in New Mexico, on a small in house rec team. Two years later I was asked to play for a competitive team ranked third in the state. I played with this team until freshman year and was taught so much in those years with an amazing coach. With this club I was able to go to goalkeeper camps and was asked by the coach to play with the older kids. This pushed me a lot harder so that I could keep up with them. After my last club season I moved into High school starting on JV as a freshman for the New Mexico State Championship team. As a sophomore I moved to Wisconsin and started playing for Milton High School as the starting JV keeper and the backup Varsity keeper, behind the three year Senior starter. My Junior and Senior year I was the starting keeper for the Varsity team. Both years I was a unanimous decision for the team captain. For club, I played with the Madison 56ers my sophomore year as the starting keeper for their second team. My Junior year I was asked to play for Rush on their premier team. This year Rush and the 56ers have combined teams and I was asked to be the keeper for this combined team as well.
Being a soccer player has taught me many things that I continue to use everyday, not only in the sport itself, but in the classroom as well. I have utilized the communication everyday, being adaptable and flexible in any situation, along with leading in everything from group projects to helping a single person with something they are struggling with. Every time I step on the field it is something different. Every time I lace my cleats up and put my gloves on the switch from everything else I was thinking about, to nothing but the ball, the pitch, my team, and the other team are all that I am focused on. I may not be able to win a game by scoring for you, but I definitely will put in and have the drive, dedication, and flexibility to save and learn everything I can to keep the ball out. I will coach, run, and position the defense to ensure success for the team.
