My parents signed me up for swimming lessons so that I could be part of a team and make new friends. At that time I was not very athletic. I could barely kick a soccer ball or throw a basketball. However, while swimming I've felt like the water is where I belong. In the pool I found a place where I could just swim, and have fun. I would always try to race all the other kids in my swimming lessons and try to go as fast as I possibly could because it gave me an opportunity to push myself and increased my self confidence. Every instructor that I had always told me the same thing: "Adam you should join a competitive swim team." Swimming helped me realize that I have finally found the sport that I am good at. By watching the Olympics and seeing how sports can push, reward, and unite people around the world, it has been a dream of mine to work my way up to that level and compete for a gold medal. College swimming would put me on a great path to one day achieve my greatest dream.
