Hello there,
My name is Daniel and I am swimmer in Vancouver, Canada. I started at the age of 7 with regular swim lessons; however, I later transitioned into club swimming. Ever since then, I have really enjoyed the sport of swimming as its a way for me to have fun, let off some pressure from the day, and exercise. I also enjoy the sport because I'm a very competitive person who likes to race. I have many goals that I want to achieve, one of which would be for me to compete at the Olympic level. However, I know that this goal of mine isn't achievable for me right now, which is why it's one of my long-term goals. Some short term goals for me would be competing at Westerns, Juniors, Trials, and Summer Nationals. I know that all of these goals won't become possible without hard work and discipline. I think something that sets me apart from other recruits would be my EQ, humbleness, and willingness to sacrifice. The reason why I say EQ is because I know how to talk to people and create friends/relations. I'm outgoing and happy to do things that are out of my comfort zone. Furthermore, I also enjoy helping others, as it's something that makes me feel good about myself. I put humbleness down because I don't really like to go around flaunting my times to other people; I'd like for the times to speak for me instead. Also, I don't sit on a high horse all the time. When I know I am struggling at something, I am not afraid to ask for help. Finally, I put down the willingness to sacrifice because I think that is something that will set me apart from others around my age. I know that in order to be the best, I will have to put down hours of my time towards the sport and studying. This means that I will have to sacrifice some of the time I would usually have as free time.
Thank you for reading my personal statement. I am really excited to start working towards my post secondary school dreams.
Daniel
