Lukas Johansson '20 Recruiting Profile

I am a Swedish/ African American originally from Virginia. My parents moved my younger sister and I to Southern California in 2011. I attend University High School in Irvine, Ca. I swim mainly the 500 Free (4:52.62Y) 200 Free (1:48Y) for my high school team. I have been a club swimmer for 7 years, currently I swim with Aquazot Swim Club in Irvine, CA where I am consistently working on my 200 Breast stroke (2.36.66L) and 100 Breast stroke (1:11.80L) .  I am a versatile swimmer, who works hard in the water follows direction and have a consistent record of time improvements.  During the summer I am a volunteer coach for my summer league swim team ages ranging from 5-18. I attend Urban Arts Center in Newport Beach where I paint and illustrate. Occasionally I assist the younger artist with disabilities at the studio. This is important to me because I have several learning disabilities myself. It’s a great feeling to help others overcome their challenges. I have dreamed of swimming in college as this has been a goal of mine for a long time, swimming helps me to stay focused and goal oriented which assist in the classroom in overcoming my learning challenges.  My academic goal is to study Art and Business, I'm not sure how yet but to attend a small to mid size college where I can accomplish all of my goals with the support of my team, coaches and teachers would be ideal.
