Rhett Harrison '16 Recruiting Profile

First, thank you for taking the time to glance at my profile.  My name is Rhett Harrison I am a year round swimmer in Oakdale California.  I strive to be the best that I possibly can be in and out of the pool.  I have been swimming since I was 8 years old I started it out as a rec league swimmer and eventually moved on to USA Swimming 4 years later.  I now am a swim coach at the very same team that I started out swimming at.  Some of my goals in life are to swim in college and also gain as much swimming knowledge as I can to pass on to younger generations of swimmers to come.  As I have advanced through my years of swimming, I have noticed that swimming awards are of little meaning and that your time is your true award.  That is why I strive to be my best because many people can win ribbons that say first place on them or trophies that say high point, but few can say, "My best time in the 200 backstroke is exactly 2:08.54".  When one has  that type of mindset, their swimming becomes so much more meaningful.  Also, someone once told me, "There will always be somebody better than you out there, but do not worry about beating them, worry about beating your best time."  In the end I think that is what really matters in the sport of swimming.  I would be an excellent swimmer at your University because I strive to be the best I can be and I am not worried about being better than anybody else.
