My name is Andrew Bowman. I was born and raised in Oceanside California and currently attending Oceanside High School. Growing up, I played soccer, baseball, tackle football and have been swimming competitively since I was 6 years old. I enjoyed and respected all the sports and the experience taught me that nothing worth having comes easy; success requires hard work.
Football and swimming were my favorite sports and I participated in both through my sophomore year of high school. At that point, I realized swimming was the best fit for me both mentally and physically. It gives me the satisfaction of being part of a team while allowing me the opportunity to challenge myself with personal goals.
This Fall I’m concentrating on my under waters and starts in the water and strength training for endurance with the goal Junior National times in 100 Fly, 200 Free and 100 Free. After placing 3rd in both 100 Fly and 200 Free at Division 2 CIFs last year, my goal is to win those events and place top 10 at CIF State Championships.
I am a member of National Honor Society and was the awarded MVP the last 3 years for Oceanside High School swimming, I have been team captain in the both years I participated in football, and I was a member of my school's ASB. I am on track to graduate with honors and am top 10% of my class.
My goals for college are to find a swim team where teammates will push my athletically and academically, with coaches that will help me reach my full swimming potential, and most of all I hope to contribute to the new team and family that I will be a part of during my college years.
