I returned to swimming in the Fall of 2013 and quickly set my athletic goals. I had hoped to qualify for CIF that year as a sophomore, but was not able to achieve the competitive Southern California standards at that time. I did, however, break two school records on the Buena High School Top 10 Times Board in the 50 and 100 Free. I continued to work hard through the Summer and did achieve my goals for sectional times at the Southern California Junior Olympics where I placed first in the 50 Free. As I entered my Junior year, I raised my goals to swim Junior National times this year. Currently, I am working hard in the pool and at the gym to reach those goals.
Besides my athletic goals, I push myself in my academics also. My school does not have Honors or Advanced Placement classes, but I am expected to take courses at Ventura College. The college courses move twice as quickly as the high school AP classes. I earned an A in both of my Algebra classes and continue to work hard. I would like to add that I have severe ADHD and dyslexia and, despite my disabilities, I continue to push myself. Swimming and my disabilities have taught me determination and to persevere in the pool and the classroom.
