I have been swimming as long as I can remember. I just starting my senior year in a rural high school in northern California where there is no opportunity to compete at the Club level in swimming. I have pursued every opportunity to compete in recreational and high school swimming available to me, but I believe I have not yet reached my potential as a swimmer. I started swimming because my parents believed it was a life skill, given all the water related sports and open water swimming we do as a family. I have grown to love swimming because of the confidence, strength and endurance it has brought me.
Perhaps the highlight of my high school sports career so far was winning high point 14 & under boy in the NorCal Swim League Meet of Champions during the summer of 2016. This inspired me to find the best opportunity to train and compete in college level swimming at a school that also provides strong academic programs in the sciences. I am willing to devote the time it takes to reach my goals and be successful in each of these pursuits. Last spring, I worked one-on-one with my high school coach to be more competitive in high school swimming and had a strong spring swim season dropping time in my freestyle events. This summer I attended a Peak Performance camp at the University of Washington with great coaches and continued to drop time throughout the summer.
In addition to swimming, I have enjoyed developing and becoming captain of our high school's first water polo team. I love playing classical piano, kayaking, fishing and hiking in the high Sierra with my family. This summer I worked in our local hospital as a medical intern. I have volunteered over 100 hours teaching swim lessons to less fortunate kids, coaching swim team and lifeguarding. I believe I have the talent, commitment and devotion to teamwork to be a great asset to your team.
