I started swimming summer club when I was seven and then started swimming competitively at nine years old. I also played competitive soccer for eight years and was on the Winter Park Freestyle Ski team for two years. In 2015, I decided to focus on swimming, and once I devoted myself to the sport, I achieved and surpassed my personal goals.
A pivotal moment in my swimming career was when I turned thirteen. I only qualified for one state event that year and made a decision that I was going to focus on technique and my training habits. One year later, I qualified for Sectionals in the 200 Fly and 1650 Free.
I am always looking to improve my skills, and in the fall of 2017, I switched to a more competitive swim club so that I could continue to push myself in the pool. I also started working with a sports nutrition coach to help with energy and recovery as well as Performance Excellence & Recovery Consulting (PERC) to help with sports performance mental skills. As a result, I made my first Winter Juniors cut in the 200 Fly in the summer of 2018. I now have one Summer Juniors cut and US Open Cut in the 200 Fly, a Winter Juniors cut in the 100 Fly and Futures cuts in the 500 Free and 200 Free.
Swimming has taught me discipline, grit, teamwork, leadership, and resiliency, which I also bring to my academics and extracurricular activities. I was recognized for my hard work in the classroom by being named a USA Swimming Scholastic All-American both Freshman and Sophomore years. I’m also involved in the National Honor Society and am a founding member and board member of LIFE (Living In Faith Everyday) club. When I'm not at school or swimming, I enjoy volunteering in my community at local food banks, Habitat for Humanity, and Cafe 180.
I had the opportunity to swim on the varsity swim team at my high school during my Freshman and Sophomore years. I loved the experience of the team atmosphere and bonding with the other swimmers and the divers. I'm looking forward to being a member of the high school swim team again this year.
I am in search of a college and a swim team where I can implement my drive and leadership skills both in the classroom and in the pool. I am open to all options and ultimately want to find the right college and team fit that provides me the opportunity to continue to grow and compete at a high level.
