I have been swimming competitively since I started on a local club team at eleven years old. Swimming has had a tremendous effect on my life in indescribable ways, but I attribute many skills such as leadership, teamwork, and perseverance to being learned through my experiences in the sport. Not only has swimming been extremely beneficial, but it has successfully fostered a great enjoyment and passion for the sport. I can certainly say that none of my successes would have come without a hefty amount of hard work and determination, which is shown by the improvements I have made, and continue to make, in my swimming career.
For my high school team, I have been primarily a flyer and backstroker, but as a leader on the team, I have been willing to step up in whatever place I am needed. I had plenty of success in my first two years despite challenges with COVID-19, and then again in my Junior year with a full championship season with Conference and State Championships. Outside of my high school team, I swim for a club team from September to December, and from April to July. Extracurricular I participate in Boy Scouts, Model UN, and I am a member of my school's FFA chapter where I gain opportunities in leadership and teamwork. I do all of this whilst sustaining a place on the honor roll and taking honors and AP level classes.
Regarding my aspirations for college, I have found interest in a variety of majors and can see myself pursuing an education and career in all of them, but have not reached a conclusion. The college I select will ideally fit my academic needs primarily, but there are certain things I would like to see on a swim team as well. I would prefer to swim on a team that is at my level, but has a competitive environment, where I can see myself always being challenged and pushed to the next level.
