I’m a rising junior at John Carroll Catholic High School. The thrill I get from competing and the constant potential for improvement is what makes me love swimming. My goal before graduating is to be sub twenty seconds in the 50-yard free style, and top ten in the nation by my senior year. I’m basing my goals on my times and place this past year as a 15 year old and I believe it is attainable by my senior year. I’m confident in my ability to improve and achieve my goals. Academically I am doing very well in my sophomore year and have finished with mostly A's and some B's.
I always look for extra opportunities to get better and put in the hard work. I will not settle for less and I will always overcome any obstacles in my way. As a freshman, I secured the position of being a leader on my team and it’s not just because of my times. I strive to be kind and help and motivate my teammates while being a good role model. My favorite swims are sprinting freestyle, breaststroke, and relays. In fact, during last year's Summer Senior Long Course Champs I anchored our 400 freestyle relay and brought my team from 7th to 4th in our heat. It was incredible and I am looking forward to this summer's relay.
This high school season started with my nomination for athlete of the week in the first week. I've won every individual race in the season so far. At districts I took 1st in both the 50 free and 100 breast. I'm excited for regionals. A second nomination for athlete of the week quickly came before my trip to State Championships. I loved competing at States and did my best even after waking up with a bad cold. I made finals and enjoyed every moment of the event.
This summer I am swimming and training with my high school football team. The workouts and coaching I am receiving from football have been very tough but I believe they are going to help me be a better swimmer. Looking forward to a busy summer and fall season with swim and football on top of my honors classes. It won't be easy, but it will be a great experience.
