As a primary goal, I strive to obtain a superior high school education, to lay a strong foundation for my future career. Throughout my elementary and middle school education, I have maintained a perfect grade point average and worked to excel in all subjects, especially science and math. After registering for all the accelerated mathematics classes offered within my school, I worked with my principal to continue both Geometry and Algebra I. Since both courses were completed simultaneously in the seventh grade, I completed Algebra II and now am enrolled in Pre-Calculus in ninth grade. To further explore my interest in science, I engaged in Duke University’s Fantastic Hearts program in middle school. This pre-college program provided an on-campus living experience that exposed me to biomedical engineering and biology.
In addition to competing on both the varsity high school swim team and on my club swim team, I also participate in a variety of extracurricular interests and passions, which also contribute to my future success as a doctor. For example, relating to patients would require strong public speaking skills, which I continue to develop through Speech and Debate classes, including a summer course at American Heritage. My leadership role as President of the International Junior Thespian Honor Society exemplified my success in confidently communicating and leading peers. Annually, I compete at both the district and state levels which enhances my confidence in public speaking and ability to think creatively. In fact, last year at the Florida state thespian competition, my monologue performance was awarded the Critic’s Choice Award after receiving a perfect score and I performed on the main stage at the closing ceremony. I am the first and only student from Troupe 89424 to have achieved this honor. Finally, medical school and a medical practice would also utilize my strong focus and organizational skills.
