Oliver Werling '26 Recruiting Profile

I am a three-sport varsity athlete in a small 3A school in Indiana. I have lettered in all three sports since I was a freshman while maintaining a 3.90 GPA and taking dual credit classes. I enjoy pushing my body and seeing what it can accomplish. I am disciplined with my nutrition and workouts and train for each sport when they are in season. I feel like if I was to focus on 1 sport, like swimming, I would really be able to grow.  I feel I have yet to get close to reaching my potential with not swimming competitively year-round.  An example of the grind I enjoy, our pool broke down during the 2023-2024 swim season 2 months before my Sectionals. I got a YMCA membership and would get up at 4:30 in the morning to drive to the YMCA and swim yards before school that was 45 min away from my school due to locations. I then would hit the weight room and dryland after school and then would travel with my team to another High School that allowed us to use the pool from 7-9 PM each night. I was still able to cut time and get close to goals I set. I have come to understand the mental aspect and visualization is a key part to any sport, especially swimming, and I am working to incorporate this in my training by reading books by other top-level athletes and professionals.
