Personal Statement
When I first started to swim competitively, I had not thought that I would have come so far. Since second grade, swimming has taught me that hard work and determination brings a person a long way. I must confess that swimming in college has not always been a lifelong dream, but rather a goal that has become increasingly tangible in recent years. As of now, collegiate swimming presents an amazing opportunity that I do not want to miss out on.
My many years of swimming have allowed me to attain a respectable position amongst my peers and have helped me achieve several leadership goals. As a junior in my second semester, I am pleased to say that I have acted as co-captain of our school's varsity swimming team for two years in a row. In addition to the multiple responsibilities I have as a captain, I am also a committed to other leadership positions in different school activities, such as Model United Nations, Habitat for Humanity, and the Varsity Club Council. Aside from my co-curricular activities, I remain focused on my academics, where I try my best in the classroom to commit to the toughest courses available and always strive to maintain a high GPA.
The balance between school life and swimming has and continues to be challenging; but years of committing to both aspects have allowed me to learn important time management skills, forcing me to be both a focused student and athlete. It is in my best interest that I will be able to attend a college that is both academically and athletically challenging. I am open to all options, and am looking forward to making the best out of any possible scholarship opportunities that come my way.
