Personal Statement
They said short and sweet, but I am not able to give most of the above information, so I’ll just give some of it here.
I am a grade 12 learner at Voortrekker High School(058 304 4006), Bethlehem, Free State, South Africa. We are on a break until 5 April but then I would be able to send my most recent academic results – my average is round 80% with subjects – Mathematics, Science ( Physics & Chem) Accounting , Business Economics, English and Afrikaans . I would like to further my studies after school and become a charted accountant or an actuary. Also if I do not continue swimming in the off season my marks usually take a dip, I need to stay active in the water otherwise I'm not actively improving my marks.
Our family of four (dad, mom & sister) live on a farm 25 miles from town, thus I stay in the hostel at school during the week.
This season will only be my third gala season. Our town did not really have any proper swimming facilities so my dad build a 4 lane , 25m heated pool at our school. Up until then I practiced in a 12.5 m pool or in a lake. That is why up until then I only swam Open Water event like the Midmar mile( where I was part of the 8 mile club- swimming 8 miles over the two days for charity- I averaged 21 minutes sub over the eight races. I have also been competing at the South African National Open Water Swimming Championships for the past 4 years.
The gala season for Level 2 ends on 3 April and I will send the results as soon as possible there after.

I would like to specialize in the longer distances in the pool as well as in the open water events. Up until now I’ve been practicing on my own(dedicated, will take on any program as it comes) - we only have learn to swim coaches in town. But I'm no currently training under the South African National Open water team coach, Alistair Hatfield
