Personal Statement

My name is Harry McDowell and swim in the Senior Performance Group with the Dorado Stars Swim Club in Caledon, Ontario, Canada. I am a coachable swimmer, a team player, determined, focused and kind. Post Secondary, I am eager to swim at the Varsity level, particularly in the US. I believe there is more opportunity, resources and support in the USA to achieve my ultimate goal of competing Internationally. I am a sprinter (50/100 Freestyle, 50/100 Fly and 50/100 Back) and believe I will be an asset to the team in individual events as well as relays. Academically, I am interested in pursuing a career in Physical Therapy/Kinesiology/Health Sciences. Apart from my studies and swim practices, I am a qualified Lifeguard (NLS), trained in Standard and Emergency First Aid and CPR. I also volunteer with the Palgrave Rotary and assist with the Junior Development Swim Group. I follow the Formula 1 circuit and have been very fortunate to have had the opportunity to study in France, Italy and the UK (this August).
