Personal Statement
About me
As an American citizen, living and attending school in the USA, Japan and Australia, I have developed a natural international-mindedness. My experiences have taught me there are always better ways to do something, so I am watching, developing at all times. My parents are English/Australian and American/Japanese resulting in a US/English/Japanese tricultural and bilingual status. Swimming is my way of proving that it is possible to be highly academic (Middle School Valedictorian, acceptance into the top, selective IB Academy in Queensland, School Swim Age Champion and 18/19 yr finalist at the 2021 Australian Club Nationals) and compete at higher levels in sport. I owe it to swimming for teaching me self-discipline and excellent time management which reflects in all other pathways of life.
Due to my racing overseas, I do a lot of research and am not afraid to try new ventures. I remain positive and use failures to improve and build on successes. Achieving my goals and learning are a passion. Healthy competition is a driver and I am able to maintain a friendly, calm teamwork approach to all aspects of swimming.
My goals by the end of Term 3, 2021 are:
Swimming Leading to the Queensland LC Championships in mid-December: cut 0.5 off my 100m Back to a 0.49.95SCY, cut 1.00 off my 200m to a 1:50.54
Academic Build on to my already high-level grades, especially Mathematics (HL), Computer Science (HL), Technology in a Global Society (HL), Physics (SL) to a range of 42-44/45
