Personal Statement
Hi,
I'm Tyler and I am an 18-year-old swimmer based in Cambridge, New Zealand. My main races are the 200free, 400free, 100back and the 200IM. I have raced at nationals since the age of 8 and I have earned 22 national medals over the last 4 years. I currently do 9 swim sessions with 2 weight sessions a week at the St. Peter's Swimming Club. I am in my last year of high school and I have always hoped to attend college in the US.
I am a great teammate both in and out of the pool. I always back up my teammates in relays and we have won many medals at nationals. I train very hard and love going to training. I like being in training environments with fast swimmers and I am fortunate to have that right now. Every training is a race and I being competitive in main sets. I constantly work to improve my skills and my underwater work has helped me earn medals in backstroke events at nationals recently.
I have earned many academic achievements during high school as well as being offered leadership positions. In my sophomore and junior year, I earned the highest achievement in our national schooling system and I am a sports prefect this year in my senior year. I have been the captain of the school swim team for the past 2 years and it has been an honour leading a great group of swimmers.
To be able to swim and study in the US has been a large part of my motivation to continue swimming with my ultimate goal to race in the Olympics.
