Personal Statement
After starting competitive swimming at the age of 8, there's too many achievements to be proud of individually and as a team. Whether it's being ranked 2nd in 200 LCM fly in Scotland and 9th in the UK, or holding 3 Scottish Records with my home club relay teams, or even being the Scottish National School's Champions for 7-years running; I've always enjoyed the rush of competing and the thrill of surpassing personal best times.
I feel that my academics complement my swimming success: with a current 4.0 GPA, I plan to maintain that standard and overcome the hard work and dedication that comes with aspirations like these. As for a Major, I am inclining towards Social Anthropology as I find the relationships between people in societies incredibly interesting; albeit, I haven't yet closed my mind on other options as I'm ultimately looking for a career in law.
With years of experience, I have found that it's not only talent and strength that contributes towards succeeding, but also commitment in life. I hold my commitment to swimming and academic work in high regard: from making the 9 sessions a week, to making sure I'm working diligently and effectively at school, I am 100% committed to giving myself the best opportunity I can. It is this dedication and joy for both swimming and school that I wish to bring to a new environment and be part of a collegiate team.
