Personal Statement

My goals are to graduate from college with a bachelor degree in Civil Engineering. I aspire to become a pro swimmer after graduate college but first i would like to compete in college while i am at the school. Me personally, I am a well rounded student athlete that can average a 3.0 each year while competing as a swimmer. My athletic skills are still striving for its peak and I am currently training day in & day out to strive for my goal which is 2020 Olympics. I may not be the smartest student athlete but I can still put my best foot forward in my school work and pass each class that I take. I am a well time managed person and I have superb skills when it comes to being a leader in any aspect. I am friendly and kind to others, and I always show sportsmanship even if I win or lose. I am an active listener and I give excellent advice to others when in need. I feel as if I am a good candidate to any college team because of the enthusiasm and spark I can bring to the team and I can also be a big factor within the distance freestyle area of the team.

  • Here is also a little bit of information about my swim club and how I train for a sport I love. Generally we have quite a huge club but with mainly junior swimmers. For the most part our schedule usually changes due to the time of the year or sometimes every new season. It started off from being 3 hour practices everyday last season from 4pm-7pm to being 2 hour 15 minute when we started to taper for nationals. Before our practices start we do 15 minutes of intense core workouts whereas on Saturday's we do a full circuit of land workouts for about 25 minutes, because our focus this season is a stronger core and stronger legs. Our practices are intense and is a mixture of short aerobic sets or sprints for the first 2 hours and within those sprints we focus on our main strokes or sometimes our second main stroke (if we have any). In our last hour of practice we focus on individual medley swims or sometimes odd strokes which we usually don't race, and also we finish off practice with a 20-30 minute aerobic set working at 90%. For me, I don't finish my day off with just daily practicing. I prefer to work out for 20/30 minutes in the mornings before I go to bathe for school. After school i tend to condition on our school field before I go to volleyball practice for a hour then I head to swimming practice (only during volleyball season). As practice is now from 4:15 pm to 7:00 pm, I go home after practice just to bathe the chlorine off of me and then I head back to my workout session from 7:30-9:00 pm. As an overall summary of my day, it is full of training sessions and school from Monday to Friday. on Saturday's instead of going to team practices I prefer to train on the beach for 1.5 hours because of how I am mainly an open water 5k swimmer. I (sometimes) also do beach practices on Sunday's in the afternoon after i come from church in the morning. As you can see my schedule is very busy throughout the week and on weekends as i balance out my school agenda and my swimming agenda, and sometimes volleyball training when volleyball season is happening.
