I have been around the pool deck from my birth so it was no surprise when I started competing. What really defined me in this sport and motivated me to push even further was a disqualification, but I am pretty sure that every swimmer goes through being disqualified at least once. I was competing at the 2017 CCCAN Championship in Trinidad and it was my last individual race , I was not having a good meet at all. I got on the block determined to have the best swim of my life, and at the conclusion of the race I had touched the wall first in a personal best time but my celebration was short lived I was later disqualified, this crushed my spirit to the point were I didn't want to swim any longer. After returning home and evaluating everything that happened I used that experience to motivate me, bad things happen all the time but it is what you make out of them. I came back more dedicated and focused and ready for my next season and that season was the turing point in my swimming career so far.
