Marcos Rodríguez Fernández '25 Recruiting Profile

I learned to swim when I was only 2 years old and since then swimming has been part of my life. After falling in love with the sport I decided to enter the high performance center in Madrid where I developed both as an athlete and as a person. Since I started competing I have been a national medalist and state champion both individually and in relays and I managed to beat several club records. For these achievements I got the recognition as a high performance athlete by the government of my region. 

Having spoken to my teammates I would like to describe my role in my team as someone who is always pushing to be the best version of myself and all my teammates, as pushing each other is the only way to reach the best version of each one of us. Despite my focus on sports I have always tried to combine my studies in the best possible way and I believe that this is not possible if you do not enjoy what you do, since I was a child I have felt a strong curiosity for science as I felt a great need to put answers to a bunch of mysteries that the world is full of. 

All of this has helped me to become the person I am, but it is only the beginning of my story. I see in studying in the United States an opportunity to reach my best version as a swimmer and continue fulfilling dreams while I finish forming as a professional to make the jump to the professional world.
