Personal Statement
My name is Max Frontiera. I am a dual passport holder of the US and New Zealand, and I have grown up traveling the world, living and competing in a vast amount of countries and continents. I love the sport of swimming with all my heart, not only for the love of being in the water but the opportunity to better myself every day. Most people have this idea that training is unenjoyable and monotonous, and I simply do not agree. The monotony of the sport is what allows me to excel day in and day out, and do everything in my mental and physical capability to reach the best version of myself. I have a persistent, full of grit attitude that drives me to push through hardships, as I know it's all about consistency and setting long-term goals. Furthermore, I am an excellent team member, and I push myself as well as my teammates through the most difficult of sets.
I am currently living in Mozambique, which is located in South-Eastern Africa. The pandemic has hit us hard, and so international, as well as domestic competitions have become scarce. In the last year, we have struggled to find the necessary pool time to train, however, we have been doing our best with dryland sessions and cross-training. This, as well as the fact that I am a late bloomer, are the reasons why I know that I have barely scratched the surface of my athletic potential. I am greatly looking forward to studying in the United States, where I will have access to the facilities I need to reach my best. Recently, as a way to cross-train, I've developed an interest in running and cycling, enabling me to participate in Maputo city triathlons. In my last triathlon, I placed first in under 22's. My long-term goal is to reach the highest level of competition and represent my country in international swimming competitions.
I currently attend the American International School of Mozambique (AISM), where our school offers excellence and urges individuality as well as creativity and real-world application with our learning. AISM is an International Baccalaureate (IB) school, which means that we are graded on a scale of 7. I am a top student, and all of my grades are 6's and 7's. I have the same attitude when it comes to academics as I do with my swimming. I pursue my academic goals with passion and grit.
I would be a great asset to your team because I work tirelessly to achieve my goals with no option of failure. I am an uplifting team member and will contribute greatly to the culture of the team. Lastly, I am versatile and have the ability to swim in many different races, therefore contributing a major amount of points. Thank you for viewing my profile. I look forward to discussing the available opportunities for representing myself and your school.
