Personal Statement
My name is Daryl Mugabi Kyabayinze and I'm an aspiring high-performance athlete. I am currently completing my IB diploma at United Word College Thailand (UWCT) where aim to achieve highly in my academic pursuits, with the hope of probably pursuing an engineering-related university degree in the near future.
I started swimming about 5 years ago out of curiosity and to keep in shape but as the years ticked by, i discovered my passion and love for racing, improving and pushing my limits to achieve the goals I set for myself. This prompted me to make the transition into competitive swimming.
Currently, I represent my school on the swimming team and I train at the Fina Development Centre at Thanyapura, Thailand where I have been for the past 14 months. Over my past 5 years of swimming, I have represented the schools that i have been in at various competitions, as well as received multiple call-ups for my Country's national team (Uganda). I've represented my country at various continental meets like the 2019 CANA Zone IV Swimming Championship in Windhoek, the 2020 CANA Zone IV Swimming Championship in Botswana, the 13th Africa Junior championship in Tunisia. Most recently, I was called up to represent in the 14th Africa Junior Swimming Championships this year in Accra Ghana but was unable to make the trip due to covid related restrictions.
